Daily Doses: Megafortress “Police Elevator” From The Megafortress EP (2010)
In this new EP from Megafortress (Aka Bill Gillim), it’s impossible to ignore the monastery tone the album attains. Imagery of dark Gregorian chants, and robed figures that flitter past doorways seem imbued into the music until it emits those images so casually it’s like light from a flame.
This imagery gives the album, and especially the album opener “Police Elevator” a haunted edge that creeps about the wordless rising calls. It’s the dark slowly giving way to the rising sun, the sand slowly being eaten away by the waves, apathy giving way to emotion.
Even more importantly than that, it’s just a killer EP that’s well worth your time to experience, and apply your own adjectives to.
